Poppy has rarely been out of the placings at Specialty Shows, and in 2003 completed her Australian championship with Best In Show at the Melbourne Specialty. Judge Reggie Nesbit's - critique reads:
"A beautiful blue bitch. Beautiful type, with detailing over the croup. Good neck, very very smooth in shoulders and very feminine. Beautiful tail, not lots of coat, presented beautifully. Great presence !

"Poppy" was purchased by Julie to replace their first afghan from us, a pretty black masked silver girl named Ranie. She was from the 2nd litter we bred back in 1972, and after her passing, it was many years before Julie could bring herself to buy another afghan. Having been personal friends with us for many years, Julie had learnt a lot about the breed, and although she was looking for a companion / pet, she wanted a show quality one. And thats what she got ! ! ! Fortunately for us, they became interested in showing, and Breanne Lancey took on the task of handling her. (Photographed above)

Other Specialty achievements include:

Best Australian Bred In Show - Melbourne National 2004 - Judge Jamie Ganoza - Peru. Critique reads:
Medium to small size blue bitch. Exotic and feminine head. Good proportions. Excellent front assembly, nice shoulders. Effortless movement with excellent reach and drive. Good head carriage.

Best Australian Bred In Show - Melbourne Specialty 2004 - Judge Willem Buitenkamp - Belgium

Reserve Challenge - Qld Specialty 2004 - Judge - Joseph Smith. Critique Reads:
This was another difficult decision that in all honesty, could have gone either way. At the end of the day, this bitch could have probably out-moved first place with her outstanding carriage, head, neck, and topline but it was so very close and first place edged ahead only by a millimeter with her type and style. As a result, this bitch was an easy choice for my Reserve Challenge winner.

Poppy has been campaigned almost exclusively at Specialties, and never goes unnoticed
